Rue pietonne à Genève, Suisse / Pedestrian street in Geneva, Switzerland

En tant que touriste à Genève, on apprécie la sécurité du centre ville. Avec les nombreuses boutiques de luxe : Breitling, Chanel, Mont-Blanc... Ca semblerait presque anormal. Mais non, en Suisse, la richesse et le luxe s'affichent sans honte. Dans ce quartier si huppé, c'est tout naturellement que l'on y trouve une rue piétonne illuminée. Mais pas par des guirlandes de noël, non, mais par de petits pavés lumineux !
En faisant abstraction du bling-bling, je suis tombée sous le charme... Sans en attendre beaucoup, j'ai trouvé cette ville pleine de petites surprises.

As a tourist in Geneva, you appreciate the safety in downtown. With the numerous luxury stores: Breitling, Chanel, Mont-Blanc... It almost seems abnormal. But no, in Switzerland, wealth and luxury are shown off without shame. In this mighty neighborhood, it is quite natural to find an illuminated pedestrian street, isn't it? Well, no thanks to christmas decorations, no, but with small illuminating cobblestones !
Doing abstraction of all the bling-bling, I fell under the charm... Although not expecting much, I found this city full of small surprises.

Geneva's cathedral, Switzerland

I don't know if it was luck or the lack of it but when I went to Geneva, the weather was not too good, there was a lot of fog. When I went into the old town walking, there was this particular air, watery and cold, and it felt like the background for a thriller in the last century. All in all it gave this shadowy shape to the buildings, and it was pleasant to go around and feel this peculiar atmosphere.

Geneva is not a city you would spend a lot of time visiting, but it is charming, especially geographically, with the lake in high mountains. It is also very clean and rich, so adept of backpacking will surely tend to avoid town.

Je ne sais pas si c'était de la chance ou de la malchance mais quand je suis allée à Genève, la météo n'était pas très bonne, il y avait beaucoup de brouillard. Quand he suis allée marcher dans la vieille ville, il y avait cet air particulier, humide et froid, un peu comme un décor de thriller du siècle passé. Ca donnait un aspect trouble aux bâtiments, et c'était très agréable de se balader and ressentir cette atmosphère si particulière.

Genève n'est pas une ville qui prend beaucoup de temps à visiter, mais c'est charmant, surtout pour la géographie, avec le lac au milieu des montagnes. C'est aussi très propre et riche, donc les adeptes du backpacking auront surement tendance à éviter la ville.
