Chapelle de Notre Dame de Grâce à Honfleur / Notre Dame de Grace chapel in Honfleur

The first time I went to this chapel, I was in a period of doubt about religion. I had gone to Lourdes and I was rejecting everything I had seen there. The amount of chairs for the people to pray in front of the statue, the pipelines to spread the water for everyone, but above all, the business that was done on people's misery and faith.

I came in this cute little town, climbed the hill and saw this little church. It was wonderful, the view, the atmosphere, the beauty and simplicity of the building. I was touched. It was nothing fancy but just a church for fishermen with little boat models. And here, there was no touristic shop, nothing world-known sacred. It was just a little church full of marble tablets to thank the saints. It was just faith, raw, rough and beautiful and religion meant something to me again.

I believe

I am not afraid
I feel you are taking me higher
I feel you are by my side

I love the Christ. I have a sense of purpose thanks to my faith. Is it something wrong nowadays? To want to believe without any scientific proof?
I want to believe that my mum is with him, that she is happy up there. If I am wrong and nothing exists, who cares really? Can I be left with that belief in myself? I am really not sure that such a thing exists as a scientific person, but I still want to believe in it. I want to love the Lord and to feel protected by him. I am weak and therefore seek for his sheltering. I need it. He sent me an angel after all, or how else should I call the person who supports me and helps me all the way through? He sent me a lot of different angels, at different steps of my life. When I started not to believe in something, friendship, lasting love, family, I was given the exact proof that I was wrong. I am lucky. I am a lucky and happy.
