Rat's new year, Macao, China

I already talked here about Macao as the world n° 1 casino city. But I'll go now further backwards in history to the XVIth century when the Portugeses colonize this part of China. There was quite a competition with Hong-Kong and it is now quite obvious which was the big winner. All the information about the history of this city is available here.
This mixed history is now a major culture curiosity of the city. You can easily find restaurants serving Portuguese food for example. And for Chinese new year, you can do a picture of a 100% chinese-like balloon sculpture of rats with "Santa Casa de Misericordia" written in background.

J'ai déjà parlé ici de la 1e ville mondiale du casino. Mais je vais maintenant revenir plus loin dans l'histoire jusqu'au XVIe siècle quand les Portugais ont colonisé cette partie de la Chine. Il y eut une compétition intense avec Hong-Kong et à présent, on peut voir facilement qui fut le grand vainqueur. Toute l'histoire de la ville peut être lue ici.
La ville bénéficie maintenant des curiosités culturelles de son histoire cahotique. Il est facile d'y trouver des restaurants servant de la nourriture Portugaise par exemple. Et pour le nouvel an chinois, on peut y faire une photo d'une sculpture de rats en ballons 100% Chinoise avec "Santa Casa de Misericordia" écrit en arrière plan.

Shiny and obviously fake, as always in China. Macao is under a particular law, therefore casinos are allowed there. In mainland China, gambling is tolerated for majong mainly but otherwise officially, it is forbidden. However Chinese people are fond of gambling and that's why Macao is now the first gambling city in the world, before Las Vegas.
The gondoliers are american and they come for training 3 months before to be sent back to Las Vegas.

Tape-à l'oeil et façon papier maché, comme toujours en Chine. Macao est sous une loi particulière, et les casinos y sont autorisés. En Chine, parier est toléré pour le majong principalement mais officiellement, c'est interdit. Pourtant, les Chinois adorent parier et c'est pour cela que Macao est la ville n°1 du jeu dans le monde, avant Las Vegas.
Les gondoliers sont américains et viennent s'entraîner 3 mois avant d'être renvoyés pour Las Vegas.
