The little insurgent (Mały Powstaniec), Warszawa, Poland

Warszawa or Warsaw is a scarred city and signs of its wounds can be found everywhere. I'll try to explain little by little, it was quite an impressive journey for me. Warsaw was really and unfortunately the center of atrocities that are important to remember. Memory is a duty for history must not be repeated.

This is the statue of the little insurgent, symbolising the children fighting and dying for the Warsaw uprising against the Nazis in 1944.
This uprising was strategic because the Soviet forces were arriving in the city and the Polish people wanted their independance. But after 63 days of bitter fighting against the Germans and with indifferent Soviet "allies", the Poles surrendered. The fight had devastated the city, both on human (about 200 000 civilians died) and architectural (25% of the buildings destroyed) accounts.
In 1945, the Soviets took control of the city.

Varsovie est une ville remplie de cicatrices et des signes de ses blessures sont visibles partout. J'essayerai de l'expliquer petit à petit, c'était un voyage impressionant pour moi. Varsovie était vraiment et malheureusement le centre d'atrocités qu'il est important de se rappeler. La mémoire est un devoir car l'histoire ne doit pas se répéter.

Voici la statue du petit insurgé, qui symbolise les enfants qui ont combattus et sont morts pendant l'insurrection de Varsovie contre les Allemands en 1944.
Cette insurrection était stratégique car l'armée Soviétique arrivait et les Polonais voulaient leur indépendance. Mais après 65 jours de batailles acharnées contre les Allemands et avec des "alliés" Soviets indifférents, les Polonais se sont rendus. Ce combat avait dévasté la ville, aussi bien sur le plan humain (environ 200 000 civils tués) que sur le plan architectural (25% de la ville était rasé).
En 1945 les Soviets ont pris le controle de la ville.

Statue of Chopin in the Lazienki park, Warszawa, Poland

Parks have a relaxing effect and I always like to visit them when I am on a journey, they are an escape to the touristic madness.
This statue is a memorial from the author composer Frédéric Chopin at one of the entrances of the parc Lazienki. The features of the statue are very delicate and show the sensibility of this man. It sits below a willow tree which symbolizes the inspiration that he took from nature for his music. You can see the flower bed behind, they were all around the statue and it had a striking effect. It is said that autumn is also a very good season to visit the park. (*)

Les parcs ont un effet apaisant et à chaque fois j'aime les visiter pour échapper à la folie touristique.
Cette statue est un mémorial de l'auteur compositeur Frédéric Chopin à l'une des entrées du parc Lazienki. Les traits de la statue sont très délicats et montrent la sensibilité de cet homme. Il est assis sous un saule pleureur ce qui symbolise la nature comme inspiration pour sa musique. Vous pouvez voir le parterre de fleur derrière, il y en avaient tout autour de la statue ce qui rendait un effet saisissant. Il parait que l'automne est également une excellente saison pour visiter le parc. (*)
