The first impression you have of a city is the view when you get out of the station. It's not always representative but in Firenze, I had expectations. And so I arrived in front of this imposing building and did not know what to think. On the one hand it's huge and looks ancient and on the other hand it does not have any particularly attractive features that would make you say it's nice.
That's when I thought if they put such a building right in front of the station, then what does the rest look like? Maybe it's because I lived mostly in quite new cities that I have a tendency to like old style. This was only the prelude to an ancient village which grew into a city so very attractive for tourists...

La première impression d'une ville est la vue qu'on a en sortant de la gare. Ce n'est pas toujours représentatif mais à Florence, je m'attendais à quelque chose. Et ainsi j'arrivais devant ce bâtiment sans trop savoir quoi penser. D'un côté il est énorme et parait ancien et de l'autre, il n'a aucun attrait particulier permettant de dire qu'il est joli.
A ce moment là je me suis dit que s'il y avait un tel édifice en face de la gare, à quoi ressemblerait le reste? Peut-être parce que j'ai vécu principalement dans des villes nouvelles, j'ai tendance à apprécier le style ancien. Ceci était seulement le prélude d'un ancien village qui a grandit en une ville si attractive pour les touristes...
